Elephant Tales
Operating a retail establishment is similar to putting on a theatre production. In our case, the 'production' that is The White Elephant goes on seven (7) days a week. It's a terrific tribute to The White Elephant Staff that so many people routinely comment how much fun they believe it would be to work here! They are amazed how often the stores completely change, and thankfully, think they always look so great!
Little do people know what it takes to put on this show of ours! It is a lot of hard work, yes....but the staff that work with us love the variety of it all ...and the challenges. It's not like we can go in a stockroom and fish out a replacement for a key piece that just 'makes' a great display or window. And, alas, Samantha the witch doesn't work here, the furniture does not move about by a twitch of our nose!
We'll post some pictures here of the staff hard at work from time to time to give you an insider's look at what goes on 'behind the scenes'!

Consignment Room Heats Up Early for Spring! (8)
As winter comes to a close and warmer weather arrives, so does the annual ritual of spring cleaning. This year folks have gotten a jump on their home organization projects - and we've been very busy! Here's some random images of a short slice of time in the consignment receiving area of our Warrenton store! -
An Old Elephant's Last Day! (3)
Christina Holmes started working with us eons ago, part-time. Over the years we bestowed the moniker, 'Consignment Commandant'upon her. The lady loves paperwork, orderliness and kept her head in the madhouse of our Warrenton consignment room like no other. A few years ago, she met a special guy and moved out-of-state. Sniff. But, then she moved back and returned to the elephant fold. Sadly for us, happily for her, she decided after all these years she'd like to try something new. She'll be missed!
